How To Make Easy Homemade Biscuits

Time to make some Delicious Homemade country biscuits! These biscuits are AMAZING and they are so easy to make. The other thing I love about these biscuits is they are so versatile. You can leave them plain and use them for a side for any dinner, put jelly on them, use them for biscuits and gravy, sausage egg biscuits, and so much more. You could even add seasonings in them or cheddar cheese for cheddar biscuits, dried fruit, etc. So many possibilities! These biscuits are flaky and moist and so buttery. Let’s get baking! First, we are going to mix the dry ingredients in the bowl. 5 C. flour, 1/4 C sugar, 3tsp. baking powder, 1tsp. salt, 1tsp. baking soda.

Now, you are going to cut in the butter. I cut my 2 cubes of butter into pieces and then I take my pastry cutter and cut the butter into the dry ingredients until it looks crumbly.

after the butter is all cut in, set the bowl aside and you are going to want to dissolve 2 packages of yeast(4 1/2tsp) in 2TBSP of warm water. I use my mini measuring cup for this or a little bowl. Mix the warm water(I use a little bit more water than the recipe says) and yeast and mix it up until it is smooth

If you’re interested in this mini measuring cup which I love using here is a link for it https://amzn.to/3GW1ALO Here is also one that is bigger which would be amazing for this amount of water and yeast! I will have to get one of these too lol https://amzn.to/3BzKlyT

add the 2C. buttermilk(I use milk since i rarely have buttermilk in my house and it works just as good) and dissolved yeast in to the dry ingredients that you set aside earlier.

take your dough out of the bowl and knead a few times just so the flour doesn’t crumble off. you will see pieces of butter in the dough and that is good that is what gives the biscuits the flaky layers.

Next, flatten the dough. I like to make it as thick as my cookie-cutter about an inch thick. You can use any shape cookie cutter but I usually use a circle or a heart.

once you have cut out your biscuits put them on your cookie sheet and spread some butter on the top of them, the more butter the better I say.

For anyone interested in where I got my silicone cooking mat here is the link https://amzn.to/3LKonOa I LOVE mine. It makes cleaning up even easier and making even more enjoyable not having to worry about any of your food sticking to your pan.

preheat the oven to 450 degrees and cook them for 10 minutes they will be golden brown. Look at those lovely flaky and buttery layers!

let cool a little but not too much they are delicious warm with some butter and jam. Enjoy your country biscuits!
